CudaEye FAQs
Q) Video over the Internet can be pretty slow, how does CudaEye make video analysis over the Internet actually work?
A) CudaEye cameras capture representative images as well as video of every important object that passes the camera. The images are aggressively compressed so viewing them requires very little bandwidth. Most of the real-time interaction between camera and service, and between service and your browser, is accomplished through these smaller images. Very little data has to be moved around until you select the video segment you want to look at - which translates into a fast user interface.
Q) Can I control what triggers events?
A) You can change a number of settings associated with event capture. The easiest way is to select on of the preset modes to match your cameras imaging environment. This will set the options appropriately for typical situations. You also have fine grain control of object size, masks, and various exposure compensation parameters.
Q) Video Intelligence makes me think about advanced video analysis like facial recognition and object classification. CudaEye seems cool, but I don't see that stuff, am I missing something?
A) CudaEye was designed with advanced analytics in mind, and the original vision was to do them as part of the launch product. As we talked with target customers, it became clear there are some interesting applications for sophisticated video analytics, but video that just worked was a huge step forward. So we shortened our time to market and launched CudaEye as you now see it - more intelligent video than our original video intelligence vision.
Importantly, CudaEye is architected specifically for high end analytics. CudaEye Cameras have significant processing headroom. ActiveSoftware is on every camera to allow deployment of new analytic front ends. The cloud based service architecture allows rapid evolution and massive processing as necessary. And the CudaEye user interface supports deployment of new technologies as services customer can actually use. We fully intend to become the leader in Video Intelligence, and every CudaEye Camera will benefit.
